If you’re thinking about buying or leasing a 2024 Jeep® Wrangler 4xe, you may have questions about it. While it shares similarities with the Jeep Wrangler, there’s one key difference: It has a hybrid powertrain. Here Heritage Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Parkville goes over exactly how it works.

Engine and Electric Motors

While gas-powered cars run with an engine and electric vehicles utilize motors, a hybrid like the 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe uses both. It’s powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, and these — along with the 17.3 kWh battery — combine to put out an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Electric Mode

For short trips, you may not need to use the gas-powered engine in your 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe at all. This is because it can be operated in an all-electric mode, which enables you to travel up to 21 miles just using battery power.

Hybrid Mode

In hybrid mode, the engine, electric motor, and battery all work together. Electric power will be consumed first, and once you get past those initial 21 miles, the gas engine will kick in.

eSave Mode

Another nice feature of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is its eSave mode. This puts a priority on the engine in order to conserve the battery charge. And when power demand is low, the engine will be shut off.

Charging the Battery

You can use a regular 120-volt outlet to charge up the battery in your 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, and this takes about 12 hours. With a 240-volt outlet, however, you can do this in only around two hours.
